Custom 3D Scanning & Precision Casting Services | Museum-Quality Replicas in Metal & Resin

CASTEM provides custom 3D scanning, precision casting, and advanced 3D printing services to create highly accurate replicas of unique and irreplaceable objects.

We support:

  • Museum exhibitions (touchable displays)
  • Cultural heritage preservation
  • Art reproduction and scaling
  • Educational models and scientific replicas

From historic architecture and fine art to insects and micro-scale structures, we transform complex forms into high-quality metal and resin reproductions.

Tooling-Free Precision Casting (Digital Cast®) for Complex Metal Replicas

■Touchable Cultural Heritage Models — Kenchoji Temple (Important Cultural Property)
Using Digital Cast®, our tooling-free casting method, we produced a 1/50 scale bronze model of Kenchoji Temple’s Butsuden Hall in Kamakura, Japan.

Based on 3D CAD data, approximately 30 intricate components were manufactured, including highly detailed wooden joint structures.
This project enabled accessible, touchable exhibits for visually impaired visitors, enhancing inclusivity in museum environments.

■Large-Scale Metal Art from Complex Geometry — “Neptune” Sculpture
We collaborated with contemporary artist Masaaki Noda to reproduce a highly complex glass sculpture using 3D scanning and precision casting.

The original 10 cm artwork was scaled up 5× and cast in metal while preserving delicate twists and surface variations. A mirror finish enhances light reflection for public art installations.

3D Scanning & Investment Casting for Cultural Preservation

■SADAKO Origami Crane — High-Fidelity Metal Replica of a Historical Artifact
Using high-resolution 3D scanning, we digitized every fold and texture of Sadako Sasaki’s origami crane.
Through silicone molding and investment casting, we recreated the crane in stainless steel—achieving extreme geometric accuracy beyond conventional tooling limits.
This symbolic piece has been presented at the G7 Hiroshima Summit and gifted internationally.

Full-Color 3D Printing for Museum Merchandise & Collectibles

■Custom Figurines from Statues and Cultural Assets
We create museum shop products and promotional items using full-color 3D printing.

Examples include:

Oda Nobunaga statue replicas (officially licensed)
Yokai figures based on museum collections
From limited visual references, we build accurate 3D models and deliver mass-producible designs within short lead times (approx. 3 months).

■Educational Replicas of Endangered Species — CT-Scanned Insect Models
We produce scientific and educational replicas using CT scan data.

Example: Giant water bug (restricted species in Japan)
→ Recreated as a legal, touchable teaching model

Ideal for:

STEM education
Museum exhibits
Hands-on learning kits

Ultra-High Resolution Micro 3D Printing (Submicron Level)

■Nano-Scale Architecture — 0.2 mm Fukuyama Castle Model
Using the Nanoscribe micro 3D printing system, we created a 0.2 mm model (1/170,000 scale) of Fukuyama Castle.

This technology enables:

Submicron precision structures
Extreme miniaturization of complex geometries
Research and advanced engineering applications
Examples include:

Micro-scale castles
Miniature battleships on a human hair
Sub-millimeter artistic models

Why Choose CASTEM for Custom Replication?

End-to-end capability: 3D scanning → modeling → casting → finishing
Material flexibility: Metal (stainless steel, bronze, etc.) and resin
No tooling required for complex shapes
High accuracy reproduction of organic and irregular geometries
Proven track record in museums, public art, and global events
