Global Manufacturing Network Supporting a Stable Supply of Precision Metal Parts

In today's manufacturing industry, ensuring cost competitiveness, consistent quality, reliable delivery, and a stable supply of precision metal parts has become more important than ever. As global supply chains continue to face challenges such as geopolitical risks, natural disasters, and fluctuations in raw material prices, manufacturers increasingly seek production partners with diversified manufacturing locations.

CASTEM specializes in investment casting and Metal Injection Molding (MIM) for the production of high-precision metal components. Today, approximately 90% of our total shipments are manufactured at our overseas production facilities. In addition to manufacturing plants in the Philippines, Thailand, Colombia, and a technology laboratory in the United States, CASTEM began operations at its new Vietnam manufacturing facility in 2026.

This article introduces CASTEM's global manufacturing network, quality management system, collaboration between our overseas plants and headquarters in Japan, and the history behind our international expansion.

CASTEM's Global Manufacturing Network

CASTEM is a Japanese precision metal parts manufacturer specializing in investment casting and Metal Injection Molding (MIM).
CASTEM currently operates manufacturing facilities in the Philippines, Thailand, Colombia, and Vietnam, along with a technology laboratory in California, USA.

Our first overseas production facility was established in the Philippines in 1995. At that time, it was uncommon for Japanese small and medium-sized manufacturers to establish local subsidiaries and manufacturing facilities in the Philippines. Through continuous investment and local talent development, the facility has steadily expanded and has become the largest investment casting production site within the CASTEM Group.
In 2002, CASTEM established CASTEM Thailand for Metal Injection Molding (MIM) production, followed by CASTEM Siam for investment casting in 2004. In 2015, we launched our Colombia investment casting facility, and in 2018, we opened CASTEM Technology Laboratory in California to support metal prototyping and 3D scanning services.
In 2026, CASTEM further strengthened its global production capabilities by opening a new investment casting facility in Vietnam. The planned second-phase expansion will include a mold manufacturing building and a machining building, increasing production capacity to one million parts per month and making it the largest production facility within the CASTEM Group.

By operating manufacturing sites across multiple countries, CASTEM reduces dependence on any single region while minimizing supply chain risks. This diversified production network enables us to provide customers worldwide with a stable and reliable supply of precision metal components.

Manufacturing Capacity That Supports Stable Supply

The CASTEM Group manufactures approximately 5,800 different products annually while processing approximately 3,000-4,000 orders every month. Across our domestic and overseas facilities, we produce more than 1.5 million precision metal parts each month.
Leveraging the strengths of investment casting and Metal Injection Molding (MIM), we manufacture:

・Complex metal components
・Parts that are costly to machine conventionally
・Components requiring reduced machining and assembly processes
・High-volume precision metal parts

By combining high-volume production at our overseas facilities with engineering and quality support from our headquarters in Japan, CASTEM supports customers from prototype development through full-scale mass production.

Quality Assurance Based on International ISO Certifications

Quality Management Based on International ISO Standards
CASTEM maintains a unified quality management system across all domestic and overseas manufacturing facilities.

Our production sites in the Philippines and Thailand obtained ISO 9001 certification in 2015, while our Thailand facilities also achieved ISO 14001 certification in the same year.

Furthermore, CASTEM Thailand Factory No. 2, our dedicated MIM production facility, is certified to ISO 13485, the international quality management standard for medical device manufacturing, equivalent to our MIM facility in Japan.

These internationally recognized certifications ensure that our overseas facilities maintain the same rigorous quality standards expected by customers worldwide. Close coordination between our domestic and international teams enables us to consistently manufacture precision metal parts that meet demanding quality requirements.

Integrated Production and Quality Management Between Japan and Overseas Facilities

CASTEM's headquarters in Japan serves as the company's Research & Development (R&D) center, focusing on prototype production, advanced manufacturing technologies, and highly complex components.

The headquarters also performs final inspections of products manufactured overseas before shipment to customers in Japan.

Our Production Management Department works closely with each overseas factory to coordinate production schedules, allocate manufacturing capacity, and ensure on-time delivery.
Meanwhile, our Quality Assurance Department shares inspection procedures, drawing revisions, and manufacturing condition updates with every overseas production site. Regular meetings between quality engineers in Japan and overseas facilities enable rapid root-cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions whenever quality issues arise.

The combination of large-scale overseas manufacturing and Japanese engineering expertise forms the foundation of CASTEM's global manufacturing system.

Improving Quality Through Technical Training and Knowledge Sharing

CASTEM continuously develops technical expertise across its global manufacturing network through employee exchange programs.

Engineers from our factories in the Philippines and Thailand regularly participate in several months of technical training at our headquarters in Japan. They receive hands-on instruction in mold manufacturing, investment casting, machining, and quality management before bringing that knowledge back to their home facilities.

In addition, CASTEM dispatches engineers from Japan to overseas production sites through our "Bridge Engineer Training Program." By working directly alongside local teams, they identify operational challenges, implement improvements, and strengthen collaboration throughout the organization.
These continuous technical exchanges help maintain consistent manufacturing standards and contribute to higher product quality and a more resilient global supply chain.
